A big thank you to everyone who helped to make our first Municipal Heritage Forum held outside of Edmonton and Calgary a huge success! We are very grateful for all of you who took the time to attend, contribute presentations or assist with logistics. We hope everyone had an enjoyable time, met some new people and learned about Alberta’s historic places.

  • I really enjoyed this year’s forum. The presentations were super and I had lots of opportunities to network with colleagues and learn more about what is happening in heritage in Alberta. The food was awesome and ti was great to meet in a smaller community. Thank you to Matthew, Michael, Rebecca and all the Alberta Culture staff who orgtanized the forum.

    • Thank you, Janet. I’m glad you enjoyed it. We are quite proud of the forum. It’s a big part of the reason why so many of Alberta’s municipalities have taken an interest in preserving historic resources in the last 8 years.

  • An excellent forum, this year! I also enjoyed the presentations and many opportunities to network with folks I met last year, as well as with new connections. I was charmed by Lacombe – I really hadn’t been through the town since I was little. What a fantastic collection of heritage buildings and the murals were a complete surprise!
The Forum really is a gem of a conference – and I really appreciate that it is all laid on for free. I hope it can remain this way for many years to come! I value a conference that is so local, and focuses on Alberta Heritage. I thought it was also very good to hear about the oral-traditions from the First Nations as heritage – I hope this might become a yearly update.
A big thank you to all the Culture staff and Lacombe locals who made us all so welcome, and laid on such a great forum. See you next year in Calgary!

    • Thank you for the compliment, James. My colleagues and I put a lot of effort into organising the forum each year. We’ve so happy to hear that it pays off.

  • A hearty endorsement to all the commentators above. It was a highly informative, well organized conference with lots of room for learning and sharing.

Thank you so much to the organizing TEAM.

I am hoping to be one of the fortunate ones to attend the Canadian Heritage Forum in Calgary next year.

Best to everyone with all your important projects!
